  • Mimosa Pattaya

Fun Family Shopping Experience in Jomtien

    0

Mimosa Pattaya is impossible to miss when driving south along Sukhumvit Road. The self-styled “City of Love” is a colourful, creative and exciting shopping experience unlike any other in the region. It combines a cultural attraction, a fun day out and, most importantly, a lot of shops.

Located directly across the road from the Ambassador City Jomtien hotel, Mimosa Pattaya is a recreation of the French city of Colmar. It’s vividly bright Renaissance-era-style buildings are very distinctive and house over 300 shops, attractions and restaurants. Quaint pathways and picturesque canals run between them in a chaotic manner reminiscent of old European cities.

  • Mimosa Pattaya entry fee of 600 baht for foreign visitors (150 baht for locals and children under 120cm get in free) does raise a few eyebrows, but the price includes more than just a few shops. The centrepiece of the mall is a musical fountain, which doubles as the stage for a 45-minute-long Tiffany-style ladyboy show. When not performing, the glamourous dancers are usually found throughout the grounds, posing for photos with shoppers.

A section towards the back of Mimosa Pattaya is dedicated to children’s entertainment. There is a small additional fee for accessing some of the tours and rides around Funland Amusement Park. Each age group is catered for, with a petting zoo for the younger ones up to a 6D movie theatre for young teenagers

The dining options available are equally varied. A large food court serves a range of budget international dishes, but the park also has a number of independent bars, bistros and restaurants. You can find French, Italian, Russian, Chinese and Thai food in abundance, including a lot of dessert and snack options.

As for shopping, Mimosa Pattaya has an extensive selections of clothing, jewellery, Thai handicrafts, toys and souvenirs, but there are no special brands and you can find just as good a selection in one of Pattaya's many markets. If you are specifically looking to go shopping, there are better places to go; if you are looking for a fun day out with the family (with the added bonus of finding a nice keepsake or a fun novelty), it takes some beating.
