Hooters Pattaya is the largest branch of the famous nightlife brand outside of America. Opening in January 2016, it brings the well-known theme of buxom waitresses in orange hot pants and tasty American food to Pattaya Beach Road, along with a great sports bar with a humorous atmosphere and a mechanical bull.
Situated between the exit of Soi 13 and Soi 13/1, the roughly 500-seat purpose-built establishment covers around 3,300sqm and has a cool modern look, with walls covered with everything from wood panelling and brick to turf and wide-screen televisions – some of the 40 which are dotted around so that you always have a good view of the latest sporting action. There are also two outdoor patios, a stage for live performances, a large central bar, an upper terrace and a store selling Hooters-brand clothing.

The mechanical bull in its bright orange inflatable pen by the entrance is part of a challenge where you win a free beer if you can hang onto it for a full 30 seconds. If you don’t fancy taking that challenge, beer prices start at 100 baht for half a pint of draught Singha or 140 baht for a bottle. Beer makes up just a single page of the drinks menu, which also covers a small selection each of wines, whiskeys, gins, rums, tequilas, vodkas, liqueurs, cocktails and shots, with a number of signature concoctions available.
The food menu at Hooters Pattaya is not as extensive, but is no less remarkable, with an entire page dedicated to chicken wings in various preparations. There are no less than 12 different sauces to choose from, ranging from the mild BBQ sauce up to the super-spicy “Triple Dog Dare” sauce. You’ll also find a range of salads, seafood, ribs, steaks, sandwiches, appetisers and half-pound burgers.
We tried the Western BBQ burger (530 baht), which includes bacon, cheddar cheese, crispy onions and barbecue sauce in a soft brioche bun and is served with curly fries. While it is a bit of an endurance challenge thanks to the sheer scale, the high quality of ingredients used by Hooters Pattaya makes it a very tasty choice.
This food – as well as an infinitely refillable Pepsi (149 baht) – was brought to us by a cheerful and charming young waitress named “Beer”; a somewhat ironic name for a waitress in a bar, perhaps. All of the staff are extremely friendly and well-trained. As with each of the hundreds of branches around the world, you will have a waitress who will look after your table personally at Hooters Pattaya, and will introduce herself and chat with you to make you feel at home. Every 30 minutes, the girls do a well-choreographed dance, which is more cute than raunchy – more like cheerleaders in the locker room than strippers in a bedroom.
It could be argued that Hooters Pattaya is slightly redundant in a city noted for girlie bars and go-gos. The presence of attractive dancing waitresses is not much of a unique selling point when you can find hundreds of similarly attractive girls (often wearing noticeably fewer clothes) just a few hundred metres down the road, in Walking Street. The prices, too, are quite high for Pattaya, with the cost of beer being comparable to a Walking Street nightclub. However, the high quality of the service, the fun and family-friendly atmosphere and the extremely tasty and filling food do justify the cost.
