You’re spoilt for choice as far as eating is concerned during your stay at The Oriental, Bangkok. There are nine venues to choose from, offering a wide range of international cuisine.

Le Normandie

Connoisseurs from all over South-East Asia flock to Le Normandie for its splendid cuisine, impeccable service, elegant ambience and the wines from its exceptional cellar. Situated in the Garden Wing of The Oriental, Bangkok, its full a la carte French menu specialises in exemplary seafood and meat dishes, although there’s always an alternative but no less exquisite set menu, both at lunchtime and dinner.

The great and the good of Thai society are often to be seen dining here – from celebrities and politicians to the Thai Royal Family. Gentlemen are asked to wear a dinner jacket in the evening.

Lord Jim's

Named after the seafaring hero created by the novelist Joseph Conrad, Lord Jim’s reputation for magnificent seafood is almost as well-travelled as its namesake. It is renowned world wide, particularly for its sushi and sashimi dishes that are often to be seen in our buffet lunches and a la carte dinner menu.

After a complete and total transformation, the newly renovated restaurant’s concept focuses not only on the freshness and vastness of the sea which is reflected in the variety of exciting seafood dishes, but also on aquatic themes which are prevalent in the sophisticated and stylish décor.

Sala Rim Naam

On the opposite bank of the Chao Praya River, Sala Rim Naam offers a choice of Thai dining; Sala Rim Naam serves a buffet lunch and set-menus for dinner, or choose to dine al fresco at the Terrace Rim Naam which offers an exotic a la carte menu at night.

Housed in a richly decorated Thai pavilion, originating from Northern Thailand, the restaurant is also the setting for one of the kingdom’s unique cultural experiences - classical Thai dancing, performed before your table every night. It’s the perfect accompaniment to such lavish cuisine.

China House

The renovations took place over the course of four months, transforming the existing two-storey, colonial building (home to The China House since 1990) into an elegant dining venue. The period furniture, upholstered with horsehair and cowhide, is reminiscent of the opulence of 1930s Shanghai. Talented chef Jereme Leung, founder of the much-lauded Whampoa Club in Shanghai, has been appointed as consultant chef. He, in turn, has named one of his brightest protégés, Chef Kong Khai Meng, to head the culinary team.

The Riverside Terrace

A most perfect location for dinner accompanied by the sights and sounds of the Chao Phrya River, the Barbecue Terrace has undergone an extensive renovation both in design and menuconcept and assures an unparalleled dining experience accompanied by the lovely sounds of a live band every night.

In addition to the classic favorites, other highlights include Lebanese mezze and Kebabs, Indian Tandoori Ovens, Japanese Teppanyaki, Sushi Counter, fresh bread station by order, and Open Fire Rotisserie, Tandoori, daily lamb and turkey shawarma, Tepan triple pork chops on the bone, steamed tiger shrimp, chargrilled BBQ lamb and blue river lobsters. The dessert station has also been enhanced for those with a sweet tooth to include a variety of fresh desserts including a flambe table with crepes suzette, cherries jubilee, peach and banana flambé.

The Verandah

Following a complete renovation in the summer of 2005, The Verandah offers new levels of all-day dining featuring a wide variety of Asian and Western dishes, all served in elegant contemporary Thai surroundings either indoors or outdoors on the banks of the Chao Phraya river.

Hotel guests may also enjoy newly landscaped gardens and pool areas, featuring private Cabanas for private and exclusive relaxation.

But whatever your selection, you can enjoy it against the breathtaking backdrop of the starlit river.

Authors’ Lounge

The Authors' Lounge is located in the original part of The Oriental, Bangkok, known as the Authors' Wing. The name “Authors’ Lounge” evolved from the many famous writers who stepped through the doors of The Oriental, Bangkok over the years, from Joseph Conrad to Barbara Cartland.

Together with the entire wing, the Authors’ Lounge was recently renovated to its former glory. Delicate, white-washed rattan furniture with hand-painted upholstery and Siamese umbrellas now grace the lounge amid towering bamboo and palm trees.
