With the 'Happy Hour' (17:30 to 20:00) to be taken advantage of and the cheapest food in the soi, the Balcony is gaining constant popularity among both Thais and foreign visitors. Seating area outside is a great place to watch the action and detect meaningful stares around you. There are lots of tables inside too if you're feeling reclusive. There's also mini karaoke and a small Internet cafe upstairs. The ever-smiling staff are omnipresent, charming and helpful. An ideal place to begin your nocturnal (gay) adventure.
Telephone Pub

One of the oldest gay pubs in Bangkok, Telephone Pub is located right opposite Balcony Bar. The outdoor seating area is quite similar to Balcony's, but the second floor of is somewhat more restaurant-like. The food served there is a mix of popular Thai and western dishes. If you're feeling too sober, Telephone Pub's jugs of powerful margaritas can change that very quickly. Flirtation with strangers is highly advisable. In fact, each table even used to have a telephone, from where patrons could call someone at another table to, well, compliment him on his new hairstyle.
JJ Park

This mythological beast quietly sits and waits for its visitors at the far end of the soi, offering not a riddle, but food, drinks and a very unique atmosphere. Decorated in a modern Egyptian style, the soft orange glow and dimly lit Sphinx provides a warm and relaxed feeling. The menu contains an extensive selection of Thai and Western dishes. Various types of wine are also available. A great place to dine, drink and discourse for those who seek privacy.
Coffee Society

Standing four levels high between Soi 2 and Soi 4, Coffee Society is not just a place for caffeine junkies. It's a café, cruising spot, chill-out lounge, conference room and art gallery all in one. The convenient location makes it an ideal stop before you head off to Soi 2. Light snacks and food is served. Facilities include free hi-speed Internet connection.
Hamilton's Hideaway Cabaret & Jazz Club

Located next to Freeman, Hamilton's Hideaway is a small, cosy, and the first smoke-free club offering live local and foreign performers and artists. Owned by the eponymous ex-Telephone owner Richard and associates, @Richard's offers a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, 70's music at a volume you can talk (or gossip) over great Thai and international dishes and drinks at reasonable prices. Fun and exciting events and activities are held regularly including the Long Yang Club Thailand group on every second Friday of the month, and a Game Night every Wednesday night. Private parties can be arranged at the 'loft' on the upper area.
