Friendly, affordable and down to earth best sum up the Victory Monument's bar scene. With an exception of hotel bars, most cater to local office workers and university students. Saxophone Pub
Local expat favourite with some excellent musicians and a relaxed fun atmosphere. Consistently good music, food and service with a different jazz band every night playing a combination of jazz, blues and old classics. Good acoustics and cosy interior. Packed at the weekend.

Sky Train Jazz Club
Housed on the fifth floor, this open-air bar has an impressive panorama of Skytrains zooming past. Besides the view, though, the place offers a chilled-out atmosphere ideal for unwinding with a few drinks and soft, jazzy tunes. The wall-to-wall window (sans the glass panel) adds the al fresco-esque feel to the place, which is decked out with mixed-period furniture and flea market knick-knacks. Food is pan-Asian and European, ranging from typical tom yam to sushi, beef fondue and garlic-fried frog legs. Live bands play from Thursdays to Saturdays.

Wine Pub – Pullman Bangkok King Power
This chic wine pub boasts live DJs, smooth leather stools, a show kitchen, solid wood tables and a floor-to-ceiling wine wall as its centrepiece. Wine Pub is no old-fashioned lounge; the mood is definitely cool, with dark colour palettes and good house music to enhance the ambience. Wine is sold by the glass so pair your favourite white or red with a creative selection of tapas, mezzes, salads and antipasti.
