Zoom at Anantara is the latest establishment to join the heady heights of popular rooftop bars in Bangkok. With fantastic views from the 40th floor of the Anantara Sathorn Hotel, it offers a different perspective over the city, and covering the entirety of the roof, this open air bar and restaurant has plenty of spots to relax. The food served here is modern French with an Asian twist, as well as a light bites menu which goes well with their cocktails for those who are coming for pre-dinner drinks or late-night snacks.
The bar and restaurant is located within walking distance of the BTS skytrain at Chong Nonsi, although it does take around ten minutes to get there. Zoom at Anantara opens from 17:30 until 01:00.

The 360 degree view is a major selling point for Zoom at Anantara, and the restaurant is cleverly laid out to allow guests to make the most of it. There are two levels, with the large polished rectangular bar and dance floor in the centre. At either end there is a terrace that has a lounge feeling to it, with comfy sofas and low tables. Every seat in the house allows you to look down over Bangkok, with the most popular spot being in the direction of the evening’s sunset. Although Zoom is a chic looking place, there’s no need to stand on ceremony here. The background music varies from down-tempo electronica to sexy samba beats. From 21:00 a DJ plays lounge house tracks and every other Wednesday it’s smooth and sultry, thanks to a famous Thai saxophone artist.
The cocktails are split into three categories: original creations, classics and champagne-based, so guests are really spoilt for choice. Of course, it’s worth trying the original signature cocktails, as they show off the skills of the mixologist and bar tending team. These drinks have a holiday feel to them, especially the tropical Paradise on Earth (375 baht), which muddles together brandy, apricot, banana and grenadine, a sweet punch that’s finished with a fan of tropical fruits. For those with an extra-sweet tooth we recommend the white chocolate maragarita (375 baht): a tequila based drink that adds cinnamon and honey to the mix. It’s creamy and comforting. For those who prefer the simpler things in life, there are over a dozen red and white wines, including a small selection by the glass that starts at 475 baht.
The food is split into two categories. For those who aren’t looking to eat here but are feeling peckish, there are some great bar snacks including chicken satay (280 baht), foie gras crostini (450 baht) and grilled salmon skewers (400 baht), served with xo sauce.
Those coming for dinner won’t be disappointed either. We recommend the Thai style tuna ceviche (500 baht): impressive chunks of tuna sashimi served with a piquant lime and garlic sauce, topped with coriander foam. The dish is exquisitely plated, thanks in part to the young chef’s time at the famous el Bulli restaurant and culinary school in Spain. Duck is always a favourite and here it is served with mini samosas and ginger purée – a rich and decadent main course. For dessert, the photogenic fresh strawberry cheesecake (280 baht) comes with a side of refreshing berry sorbet and is highly recommended.
