Wine and Cheese Event at Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok

Say Wine and Say Cheese Evening in Bangkok

The monthly ‘Say Wine and Say Cheese!’ event at Royal Sheraton Orchid Hotel takes place every third Friday of the month with free-flow wines selected from a different country or region every month and 20 gourmet cheeses sourced from across Europe. The cost for this buffet of delicacies is a very reasonable 599 baht (not including tax or service charge); recent examples of the wines featured include a soft pinot noir by Hardy’s and a sweet semillon sauvignon blanc by Peter Lehmann Wines, both from Australia. It runs from 18:30 to 20:30.

Located in Riverside Grill Restaurant on the ground floor of the Royal Sheraton Orchid Hotel, this sophisticated wine and cheese event in Bangkok was borne out of Sheraton’s social hour – a program of social events held worldwide across the Sheraton chain of hotels, all taking on various different themes and purposes.

The cheese table is very impressive, with a beautifully laid-out spread of 20 varieties – from a hard Spanish manchego cheese to a soft camembert and several types of blue cheese. There is also a Swiss style fondue to enjoy and many accompaniments such as, dried apricots, pickled jalapeño peppers, smoked fish, grapes and, of course, many types of crackers. In addition there is a wide variety of tapas dishes with the deep fried calamari coming especially recommended, and with a full range of desserts you can make sure to leave on a high note.

Riverside Grill is a beautiful space; with low lights and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the Chao Phraya River it really makes the most of its riverside location – especially round dusk, as the sun sets and the myriad of twinkling lights along the riverside are switched on. The service at the Wine and Cheese event in Bangkok is impeccable, with waiting staff floating around filling glasses and keeping the restaurant in order.

With 20 gourmet cheeses from across Europe and two specially selected wines, the Say Wine and Say Cheese event at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel is the perfect place to indulge in hard-to-find European delicacies in the centre of Bangkok.

The easiest way to get to the Say Wine and Say Cheese event is to take the free shuttle ferry from in front of Saphan Taksin BTS Station. With pick up times every 30 minutes, this is a lovely five-minute journey in a converted rice barge which docks directly in front of the restaurant. It is a suitably impressive arrival for a night of indulging in the world’s finest wines and cheeses.
