The Vault Speakeasy Club Bangkok

Club and Lounge on Sukhumvit 11

The Vault is permanently closed.

The Vault Bangkok is a refined nightlife venue on Sukhumvit Soi 11, which is part nightclub, part lounge, and very stylish. Deep house and nu-disco dominates the impressive sound system while the experienced team behind The Vault have really focused on the finer details to give cultured clubbers what they want.

Taking over the ground floor area of the dearly-departed Q Bar, The Vault opened in 2014 with a completely revamped interior based around a dark and broody speakeasy bar inside a bank vault (hence the name). As you enter, girls in 1920s flapper costumes are lounging around watching you to add some substance to the design. The result is undeniably impressive.

Appealing to a slightly older crowd than most of the other party joints (on this street of door-to-door party joints), the atmospheric interior is split into a small dance floor with a larger seating area taken up by thick leather arm chairs in which to sink back with a whisky or cocktail. The seating is incredibly comfortable and makes a great place to chill on a weekday.

Thankfully, the back half of the club is still Le Derriere, a champagne bar styled after a derelict French mansion from the 19th century. This doubles as the smoking area and as such is the best place to be if you want to mix and mingle.

The Vault Bangkok is big on quality, proven by the size and scale of their whisky menu (which we’re assured is the largest in the city), many of which are available by the glass. Cocktails are also a big deal here, with the whole menu being devised by a Singaporean mixologist flown in especially. Signatures here dispense of the sweet and fancy concoctions which sadly seem to pass as quality in Bangkok, going instead for strong, balanced mixes with few embellishments but premium standard ingredients. Try the Strawberry Mint Tulip or the Smoky Bacon Old Fashioned with Jonnie Walker Platinum for a clever twist of an old classic.

The Vault Speakeasy Club Bangkok is open six nights per week (closed Monday). Thursdays are ladies night with free drinks for the fairer sex and Sundays at The Valut Bangkok welcome the sultry songstress Donyake Renee to the stage to sing jazz standards and R&B classics.

Find The Vault Speakeasy Club Bangkok by walking down Sukhumvit Soi 11 (from Nana BTS) and follow the turn left when you get to the T-junction. The whole complex which used to be Q Bar has now been split into ‘Azura’, ‘Qup’ and The Vault, so just look for any of these names to know you’ve arrived.
