Spasso nightclub at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is renowned as one of the fanciest nightlife venues in the city. It’s been one of the best places to party for over 20 years and still attracts a more mature crowd who are looking for a fun and frivolous atmosphere but with creature comforts, such as table service and a menu of finger food to go along with their drinks. Entry is free (except on the special themed nights) and it’s worth noting a smart casual dress code applies.
The entertainment at Spasso combines live music from the house band, Diesel, interspersed with DJ sets. The band do a great job of interacting with the audience, playing party pop like Bruno Mars to get the girls on the dancefloor. Don’t come here expecting pumping house tracks, Spasso is far more about singing along with a smile on your face.

During lunch and dinner this modish space in the basement of Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel is an acclaimed Italian restaurant, but after hours it transforms into a club and live entertainment venue that is packed pretty much every day of the week. It is the only ‘resto-disco’ of its type in Bangkok and it is the longest running club in Bangkok so they are obviously doing something right! Dinner is served until 22:30 but a snack menu carries on until midnight, a definite highlight being the stone-baked pizzas actually cooked in the club.
The crowd is a healthy mix of westerners and Thais although the club does attract a fair few scantily clad Thai ladies who get busy making eyes at single men at the bar. People dress up for a night at Spasso and seem to make an effort, especially at their monthly themed nights on the last Friday of every month. Past themes have included Doctors and Nurses, Superheroes and Hawaiian Night.
Fridays are the most popular night at Spasso. You’ll find the club is packed all night, and all of the best tables have been taken soon after 22:00. If you are coming as a group, it’s definitely advisable to reserve a table, however if you are coming to meet and mingle, sitting up at the bar might be your best bet.
On Sundays, the entertainment is more down-tempo with live blues and jazz from 21:00 till 24:30. Anyone who knows the Hyatt brand will know they are serious about their wine, and Spasso is no different – the house wines are really just about the best you will find in the city. You will pay for quality though, with a large Chardonnay, Tyrrell’s Old Winery, Hunter Valley, Australia 2012 coming in at 440 baht. A bottle of Asahi or Heineken beer costs 280 baht, while cocktails come in around the 300 baht mark.
Spasso Nightclub focuses on delivering premium quality across the board, and it’s certainly one of the best live entertainment venues in Bangkok for those who want a fun but fancy night out in the capital.
