Ultra Music Festival is one of the biggest in the game at the moment, with the ‘Worldwide’ brand stopping off at more than 10 countries before ending up in Miami - a three-day mega-event that rounds up all of the best artists in the world, with a focus firmly on the dance music. After Thailand, the Ultra series makes its way on to South Korea, Croatia, Japan, Brazil and Bali later in 2015.
Road to Ultra Thailand 2015 - Lineup
Alesso (joint headline) – Alesso has been ranked in the top 20 DJs in the world by DJ Magazine for the last three years (currently at No.15), and the 23-year-old Swedish DJ has previously collaborated with some of the most famous dance music producers around, including David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Avicii. He's also just released his debut album, ‘Forever’, in May 2015.
Knife Party (joint headline) – Hailing from Australia, this DJ/producing duo have become famous for mashing up various EDM genres during their live sets, including big room house, electro and dubstep. They’re no strangers to Ultra Festival either, having played at the main event in Miami every year since 2012, and before this formed part of the drum n bass outfit Pendulum.
Adventure Club – This Canadian duo started out as a punk rock band, but quickly moved into the EDM scene with a number of electro and dubstep-influenced releases. Adventure Club made their Ultra debut in Miami in 2013, and Thailand’s Road to Ultra 2015 will be their first show in Southeast Asia.
Galantis – Best-known for their feel-good 2014 smash 'Runaway U & I', Galantis consists of Grammy award winning producer Christian Karlsson (of Miike Snow) and established electro DJ Linus Eklöw. They’ve recently been named the ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ for 2015.
Laidback Luke – Dance music veteran Laidback Luke has worked with some of the biggest DJs in the world and played pretty much every EDM festival out there, across a career spanning two decades. This is the Dutch-Filipino’s second time in Bangkok, having played at Levels Club back in 2010.
Also on the lineup are Australian sisters Nervo (best known for co-writing Grammy award-winning single ‘When Love Takes Over’) and Dutch DJ/producer Quintino. The festival also welcomes local talent in the form of Ottawa & Kolor One, as well as Skinny Mark vs. Zuper L; some names you might have heard if you're familiar with the dance music scene in Bangkok.
Doors at Bangna’s BITEC convention centre open at 17:00 on Friday June 12, with the Alesso’s set ending around 02:00. There’s an 18+ age limit, and you’ll need to bring ID and your printed tickets on the door. Tickets can be bought at www.amiando.com/ultra2015 or via Thai Ticket Major outlets.
