Choosing the best airline to fly with is an often overlooked part of a trip, yet it is an important consideration – especially when crossing continents – that can add needless stress and time to a holiday. The award-winning Qatar Airways offers five-star luxury to all its passengers, with noticeable advantages like fast-track immigration and baggage check, a choice of delicious on board meals and the latest in-flight entertainment.

We regularly fly Bangkok to Hanoi, and our latest journey with Qatar raised the bar on all other operators we have tried. The newly introduced Bangkok to Hanoi route was added to the Qatar Air schedule in 2014, which is actually the final leg of a flight originating in Doha. This means passengers get the privileges of a long-haul flight on a short one hour 55 minute flight.
After we breezed through Premium VIP immigration (available to Economy passengers if they check-in online) in only five minutes, we had some additional time to hit the duty-free shops in Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Boarding the flight was painless and we appreciated the layout of the plane, which is an obvious advantage as we were travelling in a party of four and we took the middle row of seats together; most other airlines operate smaller aircraft so it’s rare to find this seating configuration.
Drinks and a choice of hot meal were served promptly after takeoff while we each took some time to immerse ourselves in the latest movies from America, France, Japan, India, Iran and Korea. Flying from Bangkok to Hanoi takes just under two hours so after lunch and a movie it was time to land – a truly relaxing and efficient service from Qatar Airways.
As a side note, in case you are flying through Doha International Airport it is worth mentioning the unbridled luxury of the world’s first and only exclusive terminal for Business and First Class passengers. Comprising a Jacuzzi, spa, business centre, fine-dining restaurant and chic cocktail bar, the Premium Terminal take the experience of flying to a whole new level of sophistication, typical of the trailblazing strategy of the company.
Fast track immigration, diligent and personable service and an impeccable safety record are all hallmarks of Qatar Airways – see for yourself why it has been voted Airline of the Year by Skytrax World Airline Awards, voted for by industry professionals, on several occasions.
