Occupying a prominent corner location at the top of the ever-popular Soi 11, Marshmallow Bar is hard to miss. The opulent interior design and deep purple lighting is far more sophisticated than most other bars on the strip, and thankfully their range of balanced but boozy cocktails and varied menu more than live up to expectations. This is isn’t the cheapest bar on this famous party street, but Marshmallow certainly offers value for money and a great place to party.
With an excellent sound system and a roster of some of Bangkok’s finest DJs, the music at Marshmallow is one of its selling points. Evenings start off with some lounge house music, keeping the tempo suitable for a relaxing sundowner cocktail or bite to eat. Around 22:00, the music is turned up and a more eclectic range of tunes are played – party pop, R’n’B, vocal house – anything to get the crowd energised.

As for what to drink, the mango daiquiri comes thick with so much freshly blended mango it would be hard to drink it through a straw, and it is certainly our ‘go-to’ cocktail of choice! Not to be overlooked, the skilled bartenders have created a range of signature cocktails, from the Sweetmarshmallow mix of Midori, kiwi liqueur, and sour mix, to a totally unique and exotic martini called Spicymarshmallow, consisting of tom yam vodka, Malibu and a sprig of lemongrass and a kaffir lime leaf for garnish.
Whether you’re looking for tapas-style finger food or more hearty dishes, Marshmallow have you covered. The menu is a little scattergun in its approach, but we personally love the fact that delicacies such as fine de Clair oysters (delivered fresh twice a week) are served next street food favourites like fried chewy beef (succulent and great with a few beers). Pasta dishes at Marshmallow are also highly recommended if you are looking to fuel up for a long night on the town. Go for the tomato-based seafood spaghetti marinara that is served with a generous serving of green-lipped mussels, fresh squid rings and pre-peeled tiger prawns. For dessert, you simply must try the signature toasted marshmallow – each marshmallow piece is toasted and filled with caramel cream and chocolate syrup for a rich and satisfying end to the meal.
Come for a few drinks in the early evening on the elevated outside terrace or later on in the evening when some of Bangkok’s finest DJs create a refined party vibe; either way this bar and kitchen is one of the highlights of Sukhumvit Soi 11 and adds a bit more class to a night out than the many VW vans that line the street.
