Mad Moa bring Tiki-bar laidback island culture to Bangkok’s Old City. This Polynesian-themed American bar and restaurant is located on Lan Luang, close to the temples and palaces of the Old City. Mad Moa is a 10-minute cab ride from the National Stadium BTS Skytrain Station or the MRT Hua Lamphong Subway Station. This was the original space of the legendary Seven Spoons, which has since moved a few doors down.
The Tiki-style décor and soft lighting make Mad Moa the perfect place for a low-key night out with friends. The venue is small and cosy, and the carefully crafted, colourful aesthetic demonstrates the owner’s eye for style. While the menu is rather limited, the hefty portions will not disappoint. Highlights include their signature burger (280 baht), succulent pork ribs (320 baht), and their gourmet hot dog (240 baht). Wash down your meal with a pale ale or a rum-based “cocktail of the day” (220 baht). If you are using public transport, you will probably have to take a short cab ride as well. For American fare with an island twist, Mad Moa is an excellent choice.
