It’s easy to see why the Jazzy Brunch at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is one of the most popular Sunday activities here in Bangkok. Taking over an entire floor of the hotel and encompassing the best dishes served in their restaurants, the hotel prepares a feast worthy of royalty between 12:00 and 15:30 every week, and given Sheraton Grande’s direct access to the BTS and location in the centre of Bangkok you won’t have far to walk once you are stuffed! Sheraton Grande is notable for its gourmet restaurants including fine Italian dining at Rossini’s and contemporary Thai at Basil. Dishes from both these venues and a host of other specialities are available, including a chef making sushi and a fresh pasta cooking station.

The set-up is impressive, and there are plenty of seating locations to pick from. The most popular seats - and therefore those that tend to be booked first - are in the circular living room that looks out onto Sukhumvit Road. This is where you can really enjoy the jazz trio, who play throughout brunch. The professional musicians performing here run through a catalogue of crowd pleasing smooth jazz classics and provide a sophisticated backdrop to your meal. Regulars have their favourite seats; some prefer the lounge, whilst others like to sit in Rossini’s, who throw open the French windows and offer a rustic Italian atmosphere and easy access to their famous foie gras dish. Last, but by no-means least, there is also a cosy seating area in the Library, perfect for enjoying dessert and a coffee whilst browsing the hotel’s impressive book collection.
When looking at the vast array of food that is on offer at the Jazzy Brunch, it can be hard to know where to start. One of the most popular corners of the buffet is the fresh seafood, a large glass boat-shaped vessel stuffed full of rock lobster, green-lipped mussels, king crab and oysters. Throughout brunch the chef slices and rolls beautifully presented sashimi and sushi at the counter nearby, so there is always plenty to go around. Another great way to start your brunch is at the deli counter with plenty of cold cuts and a great antipasti selection including Parma ham, tomato and mozzarella bites, duck with raspberries and blackberries or perhaps even a few slices of smoked salmon. Even in this section it would be impossible to try every dish on offer in one sitting, especially as you need to make sure you leave enough room for the mains and dessert!
Whilst walking around the lobby I didn’t even register the lack of desserts, which are hidden in the library. You’ll want to leave room for all the delights on offer here, including a wide range of ice-cream and sorbets, traditional Thai puddings and sweets, handmade chocolates and cheesecakes. For a finale, if you have been clever and left some room, there is cheese and fruit to end the meal. A Sunday here with family and friends is one you won’t forget in a hurry! Children under two eat free, and those under eleven can enjoy the buffet for 999 baht. Adults can pick between a food only package that includes fruit juices, and the free flow drinks package. Once again Sheraton Grande have outdone themselves with a range of freshly made cocktails mixed at the bar, as well as wine and beers on tap.
