Spa by Le Meridien Bangkok Hotel is one of the finest venues in Silom for a relaxing escape, offering a range of wellness treatments. The whole spa is decked out in shades of white, which helps guests slip into a relaxed state of mind, while the professional service also ensures a peaceful transition from waiting area to private treatment room.
The spa session begins with a cool grape juice and cold towel while you select which type of essential oils you would like used. There are four to choose from, each offering a different sensation. I decided to go for the Energise concoction, which had an enlivening scent.
The signature hot stone massage is available as a 90-minute treatment for 2,800 baht. Called the Hot Lava Touch massage, you start face down with large heated lava stones places on the base of your spine and on each palm. The lava stones are smooth and rounded and move freely over the skin thanks to the addition of essential oils. One thing to note: when first applied, the stones are extremely hot, but this allows for a very deep tissue massage.

The stones are rubbed deeply into the muscle and the heat seems to penetrate places where hands alone struggle to reach. It’s truly a rejuvenating experience, particularly for anyone suffering from chronic tightness of the muscles. With soft instrumental music and mood lighting, a deep sense of calm envelopes you.
As anyone who has spent time in Thailand before will tell you, spa sessions vary greatly in price. Spa by Le Meridien Bangkok is in a five-star hotel, so it is noticeably more expensive than street-side massages but, when compared to other top-end hotels, this is among the cheapest you can find. For example, the 120-minute jet lag treatment combines a foot treatment and body massage for 2,500 baht. This is far cheaper than other hotel spas in Bangkok. Premium products are also used, such as Thémaé Paris oils from France for facial treatments. A classic Thai massage costs 1,200 baht for 60 minutes.
Once your session has finished, you can shower and dress, with a selection of toiletries to help you prepare yourself for the rest of your day. Day spa users are also able to use all the leisure facilities at Le Meridien Bangkok, so you can have a workout at the gym or enjoy a few laps of the hotel pool if you choose.
Hotel spa treatments in Bangkok are very special and, although they usually cost more than independent wellness centres, in the case of Spa at Le Meridien Bangkok you can see and feel why it costs more in the layout, service and quality of the treatment.
