Our favourite thing to do on a leisurely Sunday is spend the day indulging at one of the many excellent Sunday brunches in Bangkok. Gourmet ingredients and a wide variety of choice are the hallmarks of a good brunch and nowhere will you find this more apparent than at Feast Sunday Brunch at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel. Guests can expect an extensive seafood selection of lobster Thermidor, three kinds of oysters, Alaskan king crab, along with roast meats, Italian cold cuts, European cheeses, and food stations focusing on several kinds of regional cuisine such as Indian curries, Japanese sushi and Chinese duck and suckling pig. Feast Restaurant is on the ground floor of the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and has views over the water from floor to ceiling windows which look out over the engrossing river spectacle. The brunch runs from 11:30 to 15:00 and costs 2,000 baht including freshly blended fruit juice and water, with the option to include free flow wine and beer for 2,800 baht (including tax and service charge).
Guests can really take advantage of all of Sheraton’s dining outlets at this Sunday brunch. The Thai food on offer is prepared by the chefs from Sheraton’s speciality Thai restaurant Thara Thong, likewise the Italian pasta and risotto offerings coming courtesy of Giorgio’s Italian Restaurant found on the second floor of the hotel, and a premium steak selection – including Angus beef tenderloin, Australian rib eye and Kurobuta pork chops – can be selected and grilled in front of you at Feast’s kitchen.

The roasted meats banquet station has a prime rib of beef, a rack of lamb, honey glazed ham, a whole baked salmon and roast chicken. Choose from red wine jus, stock gravy, mint jelly and several other condiments to complement the meat. A full range of vegetables can be found on the buffet line if you want a full roast dinner. For something more refined, head for the caviar station or the foie gras and pâté station. There is also a salad station with a Caesar salad prepared inside a huge block of parmesan cheese and grilled vegetables kept in a balsamic reduction for that authentic Mediterranean feeling.
Large groups will delight in the range of dishes on offer as there is literally something for everyone, including the youngsters of the family, because this brunch provides a staffed children’s area featuring bean bags, balloons, Disney movies and magicians. The magicians even make trips out into the crowd to entertain the dining room with a series of thoroughly entertaining tricks and sleight-of-hand.
Of course, a true brunch isn’t complete without an extravagant dessert tray and at Feast you will find an entire section filled with black forest gateau, blueberry cheese cake, fruit tarts, toffee and coffee caramel cake, tiramisu, opera cake, chocolate lava, panna cotta, fresh fruits, freshly made crepes, traditional Thai iced desserts, a decadent chocolate fountain, and 10 homemade ice creams and sorbets. Save some room is all I can say!
Located on the Bangkok side of the Chao Phraya River, guests reach the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel either by taxi or they can arrive in a rather more romantic fashion on a complimentary converted rice barge with plush leather sofas that shuttles guests from Sathorn Pier in front of Saphan Taksin BTS Station directly to the hotel’s private pier.
