Walking into El Chiringuito in Bangkok feels like walking into a chic bar in Madrid. If you are in the mood for tapas and enjoy a cozy atmosphere, you won’t want to miss out on this lovely venue situated in Bangkok’s historic Chinatown. El Chiringuito Bar is located on Soi 221 Soi Nana, a five-minute walk from the Hua Lamphong MRT Subway Station.
Since opening its doors a few years ago, El Chiringuito has become a popular haunt amongst Bangkok’s nostalgic European expat community. The exposed brick and vintage décor give this place a retro vibe, and it can get quite busy as the night wears on. The couple who owns the bar takes great pride in the authenticity of their Spanish cuisine. You can choose from a variety of reasonably priced tapas, and don’t miss out on the chorizo pizza (190 baht). Other menu highlights include bocadillos, or sandwiches, and the croquettes (180 baht). While there is only a dozen or so food items to choose from, none of them will disappoint. You can wash down your meal with a beer or glass of homemade sangria (130 baht). Gin-lovers can also opt to indulge in a glass of imported Xoriguer (220 baht). El Chiringuito Bangkok is only open from Thursday to Sunday, so even though it’s closed at the beginning of the work week, the food and drinks make it well worth the wait!
