Eat Me Restaurant and Gallery on Soi Convent
A Well-known and well-regarded International Restaurant in Silom0
Eat Me - The name is less of a suggestion and more a promise of something irresistible. This gallery and restaurant on Soi Convent in Silom lives up to its name by serving mouth-watering modern international food, good drinks and some very tasty desserts. The restaurant has been wowing the crowds for years which is no mean feat given Bangkok’s fickle dining scene and even fickler diners. Things are kept things fresh with ever-changing art exhibitions, an inventive menu and a smart casual dress code.
Eat Me can be found on a side street halfway down Soi Convent, with Sathorn at one end of the road and Silom at the other with both Sala Daeng (BTS) and Silom (MRT) stations both only ten minutes’ walk away. This place is a firm favourite with an excellent mix of upscale dining and comfortable surroundings; once you’ve spent an evening here you’ll definitely want to come back.Read More

This two-storey white house is easily recognisable, bordered by tall plants in oversized pots. Enter via the bar and lounge area and grab a cocktail while listening to the live band in the courtyard. Upstairs you will find the dining room with a small outside terrace that wraps itself around the building. The best seats in the house are on this balcony, where you are surrounded by green bamboo and can hear the music floating up from below. The decor is modern and simple: washed-out walls and wooden floors. The art they display provides the counterpoint, with photos or painting hanging around the room. No-one is in a rush once they sit down at Eat Me, making it a great location for an informal business dinner, a romantic evening or celebrating a special occasion with friends.
The contemporary international menu offers over 50 delectable choices. For starters we try witlof, cherry and mozzarella salad with asparagus and the red onion tarte tatin. The salad is light and fresh, the cherries’ sweetness balancing out the tart lemon dressing and bitter leaves. The tarte is pure comfort food, warm buttery pastry with caramelized onions, gooey brie and a rich red wine glaze. Our mains are just as delicious, with well-cooked duck confit, its perfectly crispy skin and brussel sprouts with prosciutto giving the flavour an extra kick. It’s worth getting a side of mash, creamy and smooth and enough for two to share. One taste of the beef tagine and I feel instantly transported to Morocco; the meat is tender and the flavour holds its own against the saffron and dates. If you are looking for something a bit lighter, there are plenty of vegetarian and fish options on the menu, including fig and blue cheese ravioli and Thai baramundi with a spicy coconut broth.
Despite being ready to burst we couldn’t leave without sharing a portion of date and butterscotch pudding, Eat Me’s most popular sweet treat. Eat Me also serves yummy ice-creams including chestnut with rosemary and dark chocolate chilli. Drinks include a respectable selection of wines by the glass or bottle and some original cocktails; including a Siam daiquiri with a twist of lemongrass, ginger and kaffir lime and a thirst-quenching passion fruit caipiroska. If you prefer your dessert in liquid form I recommend a lemon meringue martini, a dash of citrus taking the sugary edge off the Bailey’s. Despite being busy, the service was first class, food appeared in a timely manner and our drinks were kept topped up. Eat Me Restaurant never disappoints, and consistency is difficult to come by in Bangkok. When you find somewhere this good you keep coming back and bring your friends. Remember to book ahead as it can get very busy at the weekend, especially if you want a coveted al-fresco table.
