Where to buy jewellery in Bangkok

    0
  • ADVERTORIAL

Take the worry out of buying jewellery in Bangkok by visiting the Jewelry Trade Centre (JTC) in the Silom district. With a seven day full refund policy on all jewellery and gems, and a signature Gold Label awarded from the Asian Institute of Gemmological Sciences (located in the same building), visitors can be assured that their purchases are exactly as advertised.

This has been the home of gems and precious metals in Thailand for over 15 years with stones from as far away as Sri Lanka, Myanmar, China, South America and, of course, Thailand. It is certainly the best place in Bangkok to buy these luxury goods without any worries, thanks to the store wide policies and reliable sellers who have been in the business for a long time. Plus, there are added benefits to shopping here, such as free entry to prize draws for anyone spending more than 5,000 baht, free Wi-Fi and the unparalleled money back guarantee. Jewellery takes up four floors of the Jewelry Trade Center building (Basement, Ground Floor, 2nd and 3rd Floor). The easiest way to get there is via the BTS Skytrain; get off at Surasak sky station it’s only a 5 minute walk from there.

Jewelry Trade Center is a combination of stalls spread throughout an open space with boutiques dotted around the edge. You can buy everything here, from loose stones to engagement rings. There’s a corner dedicated to young jewellery designers, who have modern pieces that have unique themes, such as chunky gold rings with quartz stones and delicate pendants. Pearls from Phuket are another item that you might want to consider, and jade is a big pull for many visitors, especially bangles. South East Asia is known for its precious and semi precious stones, especially the coloured gems, such as sapphires, emeralds, and rubies. Finally, you can find plenty of quality silver items here: bracelets, chains, lockets and earrings. In fact, this 59 floor building has everything related to jewellery that you could possibly want.

AIGS (Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences) is located in Jewelry Trade Center to provide certification for gems right away at little extra cost. On the 48th floor is the gemmological and design school. They provide wide range of courses; grading diamonds, gems, pearl, jade, gold to the jewelry design course from the immediate to advanced level, and all taught in English.

The choice can seem a little overwhelming at first, but don’t worry, there are plenty of staff on hand to talk you through your choices, and they understand that buying something special is a commitment, so there’s no pressure: take your time and browse. The most important element for most people when shopping for jewellery in Bangkok is being able to trust the sellers. At Jewelry Trade Center reliability is guaranteed. There are rules about who can sell and how it can be sold, and vendors have to be honest about the grade and origin. We recommend taking your time and wandering around all the stalls before buying, but allow plenty of time as there is over 300 shops to choose from.

Thailand is a world-famous producer of quality jewellery and Bangkok is indeed one of the world's major jewellery markets, with a large and thriving gem cutting industry center along Silom Road. JTC is the huge center in this area which provides all kind of jewelelry stuff; rough stones, stone cutting, jewel cutting, as well as equipment & material. It's a great place for traders, also for retailers.

If making a big purchase worries you and you want to check out the quality and value of the item you intend to purchase, then you’re in the right place. The building is home to the Asian Gem Laboratory and they can grade and provide identification for precious stones. Be sure to speak to reception too, there are often special deals on certain items at specific stalls, and they will be able to point you in the direction of the impressive discounts.

The Jewelery Trade Centre is a safe and friendly place to buy jewellery in Thailand, and is many people’s number one choice for those looking for a special token or souvenir from their trip to Bangkok.
