Baan Silom is a charming outdoor complex of dining and drinking options, boutique shops, spas and beauty clinics all built around a central tree-lined courtyard. The colonial style architecture is immaculately maintained with ornate wooden verandas and white colonnades, and the shaded avenues are perfect for strolling arm in arm for a spot of window shopping. It is certainly more enjoyable than the generic atmosphere found inside multistory shopping malls.
Baan Silom is located on Silom Road just before Soi 19, a few minutes’ walk from Surasak BTS Skytrain Station. If walking from the station, follow signs for Jewelry Trade Centre (JTC).

661 Silom – Meet & Meat
661 Silom occupies the corner building with a glass front façade and chic timber and steel design. There are actually two parts to this bar and restaurant. Downstairs, there is a gastro pub with a menu devised by celebrity chef McDang and Southeast Asia’s only Dom Perignon lounge offering the world’s finest champagne by the glass. Grouped together under the term Meet, this is a place to come and relax and enjoy the lounge house music, sample signature cocktails, delectable gastro-bites or even enjoy a glass of fizz in the exclusive Dom Perignon lounge. There is also an al fresco bar popular for a lunchtime coffee and with the after work crowd, offering a relaxing view of the central courtyard.
Upstairs is the flagship restaurant, a premium steakhouse called Meat. With floor-to-ceiling windows, earthy tones, cow hides and an open kitchen, this is a modern and welcoming space that retains a sophisticated ambiance. Steak is imported from Australia, Japan and Germany with prices ranging from around 850 baht for a premium rump cut to 4,000 baht for Kobe beef tenderloin. For non-meat eaters the kitchen always aims to have a few fish options available. There is also a three course lunch set at Meat, priced at 661 baht which runs from 11:30 to 14:30.

Award-winning Lebanese restaurant Nadimos covers the entire Middle Eastern region with its hefty menu of Arabic favourites. Rich and healthy, diners should certainly try their hummus and babaganoush dips with flat bread and pickles. The yougurt and cucumber is a lovely fresh dish to try on a hot day and the succulent chicken and lamb schwarmas and kebabs are cooked in the traditional style and all meat is halal. Shisha pipes and Lebanese style coffee can be served outside for a traditional end to the meal. Many of the ingredients are imported directly from Lebanon so the tastes are authentic.

Taling Pling is a famous Thai restaurant with several branches around Bangkok. The Baan Silom restaurant location has a modern, casual design and is popular with both locals and visitors. The menu has a nice mix of tourists classics such as pad Thai and their signature green curry with roti bread, along with some rarer dishes such as green chilli paste and wing bean salad.
It’s fair to say that the chefs at Taling Pling cook with international guests in mind, staying true to original recipes but turning down the spice levels and adding a touch more sweetness than those restaurants serving only local Thai guests. Taling Pling is an enduring restaurant with a loyal following thanks to classic Thai cuisine, excellent value for money and a relaxing, casual atmosphere. For larger groups there is a Family Set priced at 1,900 baht; alternatively, enjoy the large a la carte menu of home-cooked style dishes.

Saree Bridal Idea
Saree Bridal Idea is an extremely experienced bridal boutique that can tailor wedding dresses to buy or rent. The style at Saree is modern and errs on the minimalist style of dresses with detailed ornate touches. Although there are a few overtly frilly gowns with long trains, the style here is very much in style with the current European trends with intricate lace patterns apparent in some of the designs, and there is also an extensive range of bridesmaid dresses in house. Prices start from 30,000 baht to buy a custom-made dress and 9,000 to rent. There is also a grooms range starting from 10,000 baht for a two-piece suit.
Some customers have flown from Europe especially to visit Saree, which is testament to the quality on offer. Unlike the vast majority of tailors, Saree Bridal Idea has its own personal tailor and they recommend at least two fittings for tailored gowns. The friendly and knowledgeable staff can also help with advice about any facet of your upcoming wedding.
