5 Reasons to Visit Thonglor’s Seenspace Lifestyle Mall

Seenspace Lifestyle Mall on Thonglor Soi 13 might just be the coolest mini-mall in Bangkok. In fact, most people don’t even consider this a mall as the limited amount of fashion stores take second stage to the long list of bars and restaurants, which draw in a lively Thai and expat crowd every evening.

However, Seenspace is more than just a fun place for drinks in the evening. Here are five reasons why you can spend all day on Thonglor 13; from filling up with a fancy breakfast, getting active in the gym and then undoing all the good work with copious amounts of beer in the evening.

    Satisfy your morning caffeine cravings

Cafes don’t get much cuter than Mr Jones’ Orphanage, which comes full of teddy bears, Lego bricks and kids’ toys to play with. Coffee is available, but the real must-tries here are the cakes and sweet milk fresh from the farm. For quality over style, head to Roast instead where you’ll find a better range of in-house roasted varieties of coffee served hot, cold or blended. They also do a mean brunch with choices such as crab cake benedict and basil and goat’s cheese frittata.

Work up a sweat at RSM Muay Thai

Bangkok has no shortage of Muay Thai gyms, and while the one here at Seen Space might not be as authentic as others, their facilities are modern and trainers very professional. Most of the sessions running throughout the day from (10:00-21:00) are geared towards beginners, although kids and advance classes are available too. Day passes start at 550 baht or 6,000 baht gets you an unlimited pass for one month. Find RSM Rajadamnern Muay Thai on the third floor of Seenspace Thonglor.

    Hit up the shops

As we said, fashion choices at Seen Space are limited, especially when compared to the countless megamalls scattered around Bangkok. Shops here are more boutique-style, with Dear specialising in genuine second-hand designer bags, Dancing Riot selling locally-made women’s dresses and accessories and Monlada, a more upscale boutique store selling high-end collections made by a local designer. Most of the fashion stores at Seenspace can be found on the second floor.

    Dine in style

Just like your typical Bangkok mall, Seenspace offers several different international dining options, from mid-range to expensive (so if you’re on a tight budget, better find a noodle stall on the main road). For mid-range, it’s hard to beat Bon Chon, which serves addictive sweet and sticky Korean fried chicken. Plus, unlike many other outlets of this fast food chain, the second floor location here is bright and spacious thanks to the large windows. For upscale Japanese, try O’Jung Premium on the second floor; they have hot pots and al la carte selections. Finally, BELON Oyster & Raw Bar (open 17:00-01:00) specialises in fancy wine and seafood, probably making it the most expensive place to eat at Seenspace.

Come sunset, Seenspace really transforms from a laidback lifestyle mall to a full on nightlife venue, with the central courtyard filling up quickly with young hip Thais and an ever-growing number of foreigners. The great thing is that once you secure a table, you can order from any of the surrounding bars. These include Brew Pub (great for international beers), Fat’r Gut’s (huge wine list, great fish and chips), and Clouds who normally provide the music from the central DJ booth. Shisha is also a big deal here, and it’s normal to see most of the tables with at least one pipe being shared between friends. One word of warning: expect to wait for a table if you are arriving after 21:00 on the weekend. Read More...
