5 Great Boutiques on Sukhumvit

New and Vintage Boutique Fashion in Bangkok

Most shopping in Bangkok is concentrated around the city’s never-ending list of megamalls at Siam. However, our love of independent boutiques shops often takes us (and our poor credit cards) more towards the Sukhumvit area, in particularly the trend-setting hub of Thonglor and Ekkamai.

Bangkok’s range of vintage fashion and boutiques stores may not be on par with say London or New York (even though the mall scene here is well ahead). However, they are out there – as long as you know where to look. Let us point you in the right direction with this roundup of the 5 best boutiques shops around Sukhumvit.

(un)FASHION Vintage

(Ekkamai)

(un)FASHION Vintage is one of the best boutique shops in Bangkok to go for quality and often rare vintage items that won’t cost you an absolute fortune. Thai-Japanese owners import items in from across the world, with a focus particularly on Europe and Japan. Leather is in abundance here, and you can smell it from the moment you walk inside with the narrow space decked out with (mostly) men’s shoes, belts and bags. For an idea on price, when we went we saw up a small black 1960s purse from the UK for 365 baht and some men’s brogue boots for about 1,200 baht.

Triple Stitched

(Rain Hill Plaza)

Fan of the awesome 1960/70s American vintage section at Chatuchak Weekend Market but want to give all that heat a miss? Then Triple Stitched on the second floor of Rain Hill Plaza is a handy (but compact) solution, offering a range of vintage denim, classic sunglasses and American-brand plaid shirts. The cramped store oozes a cool rock’n’roll vibe with its old school playlist, spray-on-jean-cladded shopkeeper and distinct leathery smell, all making you want to pour yourself a bourbon and try learning the guitar again.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00-22:00
  • Location: 2nd Floor, Rain Hill Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 47

DA+PP

(Terminal 21, Asok)

One exclusively for the girls, DA+PP is one of the picks of the bunch at Terminal 21, a mall heavily associated for its good range of cool boutique stores. DA+PP is actually a local Thai brand name, and the whole collection in the store takes on a retro vibe, even though it’s all come straight off the factory line. Bright pastel colours are big here, as are flower print dresses, preppy over-sized T-shirts and summery accessories, with prices from 600 baht up.

Again and Again

(Thonglor)

Although we love a good rummage through piles of un-ironed musty clothes straight from the back of a lorry, sometimes it’s nice to have things in order. Again and Again on Thonglor Soi 4 caters more towards the meticulously-minded vintage shopper out there, with its range of pretty designer dresses, skirts, blouses, accessories (and a few shirts and shoes for the guys) all handpicked, arranged neatly on hangers throughout the airy space. Everything is secondhand, with prices in the 500-5,000 baht range.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00-22:00
  • Location: Market Place Thonglor Soi 4, Bangkok

Him & Her

(Rain Hill Plaza)

Good for both boys and girls (obviously), Him & Her is one of the few boutique gems at Rain Hill Plaza, which, despite being a mall, is more usually frequented for its range of wining and dining options. The store on the second floor has a mix of new and old one-off items such as party dress, Fedoras, brogues, ethnic blouses, t-shirts and jeans. Fashionista-owners have also starting designing their own stuff, with their dresses proving particularly popular with the local Thonglor crowd.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00-22:00
  • Location: 2nd Floor, Rain Hill Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 47
