Bangkok Indoor Playgrounds

Many of the city's department stores and shopping malls have indoor play areas where your little ones can have hours of shrieks and fun while you enjoy the air-conditioned comfort. These play areas are usually located on the top floor along with the food courts, trendy glass karaoke booths with the latest English and Thai hits, cinemas and computer games arcade. A great way to beat the heat, please note that most require children to wear socks, so it might be an idea to carry a pair around.

Yoyoland

Located in the large Seacon Square shopping complex, this 10,000 square metre indoor amusement park is filled with young children enjoying the Yoyo Express, Flume ride, Yoyo Gym, City Car, Dragon boat and Ferris wheels. It's an ideal place to let your children run wild when they begin getting cranky during your shopping spree. Reward them for their patience with a visit to Yoyo Land, or even better, leave them here while you have your fun.

Location: Seacon Square, 904 Sri Nakarin Road; take the Skytrain to BTS On Nut and grab a taxi from there.

Jamboree Land

Located on the third floor of Emporium Shopping Complex, Jamboree Land is particularly popular on the weekends. Plenty of fun activities for children of all ages including puppet shows, painting, arts & crafts activities, a playing area and a padded climbing frame.

Location: Third Floor, Emporium Shopping Complex, BTS Phrom Phong.

MBK Video Arcade

The Sylvanian Families Restaurant

If you feel it's time to treat your little ones to a fun meal, the Sylvanian Families Restaurant is all about kids. With ultra comfy booths (jump friendly) set amidst miniature toy installation scenes of Sylvanian life, your children will be in their element. There is a comprehensive  menu for adults as well as a kids menu with wholesome and yummy options. Inside the restaurant is a playground featuring a ball pool and various colourful playthings. There is also a party area with cute mini picnic tables. While appealing to kids, the decor thankfully does not over-do the neon element and parents can have a calming meal while their offspring go bananas.

Location: 6th floor, Centralworld
Open: 10:30 - 21:30
BTS: Chidlom

KiDO

"Playing and learning are not two separate activities - they happen at the same time."  This is KiDO's enlightened take on childhood development. Here is a place you can leave your child (three months to six years) while you go shopping or off to a day spa, and know they are in good hands. Not so much a playground or daycare (although it is both), as a fun school where little ones can blossom according to their own rhythms alongside others on their wavelength - under the guidance of highly trained staff. A snazzy feature also allows you to watch your little one at play over the Internet.

There are five programs on rotation. 'Gym & Play' is where kids are introduced to concepts of the rhythms, shapes and body parts and begin to develop instructional listening. They can do all the moves they enjoy so much, climbing, crawling, bouncing - all good for physical development and learning social skills from an early start.

Dancing Babies

'Music & More' is the class that encourages your child to sing and dance. Playing rhythm instruments and exploring the make-believe world through music and movement. In the process they learn concepts such as colours, letters and numbers as part of the fun. 'Arts & Crafts' lets kids express their bundle of energies in a safe and supportive environment. Being themselves, children are not creative by what they produce, but what they attempt and discover with colouring, clay-cutting, print-marking, sculpturing and craft-building in relation to songs, poems, and/or stories.

Chefs in the Making

'Arts & Cooking' is a fun class where kids can get creative and paint, draw, colour or sculpt with food. Each recipe and project encourages exploration, discovery, creativity and following instructions. They can draw on cakes, sculpt with cookie dough, paint with frosting, and print-mark with fruit. 'Science & Numbers' is an opportunity for the child to explore, ask questions, discover cause an effects and solve problems. The experience helps cultivate children's natural sense of wonder and curiosity. 'Number Fun' makes maths meaningful to young ones. Filled with play and exploration, the kid understands math's foundation concepts before moving to more advanced levels.

Programmes are developmentally appropriate and child-oriented following a well acclaimed US curriculum. Packages vary from full-time, half-day, drop-in and after-school. Many holiday-makers just drop their little ones off for a half day and the kids have so much fun, they demand to go back.
