A place to become one with nature
This is a place where guests feel at one with nature while enjoying supreme luxury and comfort in absolute privacy. Meticulous attention to detail and an ambiance of total calm and tranquility combine for an experience that’s bound to make daily stresses vanish in the morning mist. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, AKA Hotel Resort & Spa has drawn inspiration from its environment, all the while embracing the lifestyle and leisure aspirations of its discerning guests. Above all, it celebrates the essence of life by honing world-class standards, paying tribute to fine living, and by restoring it. Life, that is.
Back to earth, the villas are impossible not to like. Interior and exterior finishes include a variety of natural materials in warm earth tones: wood, stone, terracotta and the like. They’re a world removed from everything, yet so well-equipped that you can remain connected. Satelite TV and a DVD player makes up the in-villa entertainment options. On top of the standard offering, the One-Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa also features a rooftop ‘sala’ (open-air Thai-style rooftop) with day bed. Infinity-edged pools measure ten meters, invitingly illuminated at night with only the stars as companions. With generous spaces separating villas, it’s quiet. Very quiet. Which is a luxury in itself.
Breaking out of isolation
When hunger pains set in or a massage treatment is called for, all of that can be arranged in the privacy of your villa. But if you’re by now starting to feel uneasy about being so isolated, best to break out and explore the possibilities…
The spa at AKA is a charming open-air affair with treatments taking place under a ‘sala’-type rooftop, set in a private, landscaped garden. Designed to pamper, relax, rejuvenate and revitalize the body, treatments draw from holistic and traditional methods. There are also sunken baths and garden showers, and the spa products used are as natural as it gets. Other facilities at the resort include a 30-meter infinity-edge swimming pool, a boutique, gym, yoga ‘sala’ and library with free Internet use. Activities and excursions can be arranged by the Resort Leisure Concierge too, or a stroll around the neighborhood offers an inspiring insight into local life.
Work up an appetite for these stylish surrounds
A perfect match for the extraordinary and indulging AKA experience is the fine choice of wining and dining, complemented by superb service. ‘Coustiero’ is the resort brasserie that serves a variety of European cuisine, while alfresco dining can be enjoyed at the AKA Café and Lake Bar. These stylish surrounds is also where a sumptuous breakfast is served in the morning, covering a range of continental and Asian favourites.
The almost monastic tranquility of AKA and its natural setting is what really sets it apart. For guests wanting to enjoy the beach, shopping, dining and nightlife offerings of Hua Hin, a shuttle service is provided at no cost (reserve your seat early). The area is rich in natural heritage, with two national parks and an elephant camp that can be explored – all within a 20-minute drive. And then there are several golf courses in the area; sprawling estates with world-class reputations, set amidst breathtaking scenery.
Service at AKA is as exemplary as everything else, which seems to happen en generous proportions as a rule. But – and there’s just one ‘but’ – a it’s highly recommended to take someone very special along to share it with.
