Hua Hin Beach Nightlife

What to Do at Night in Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin isn’t the place to head to if you're looking for wild and untamed nightlife adventures. That said, with its diminutive but lively nightlife scene you can certainly find some fun if you look hard enough. Scattered about town are several clusters of beer bars (little ramshackle affairs where you can score a beer and a girl), a number of family-friendly pubs and bars (many of which are located in hotels), and one or two clubs.

Though the above ingredients add up to a tame after-dark scene compared to Bangkok, Phuket’s Patong or Pattaya, there is fun to be found and several establishments stay open past the official 02:00 closing.

With an annual jazz festival happening in Hua Hin, it’s no surprise that there’s also quite a lot of live music to be enjoyed, from cover bands to authentic Thai acts. And one thing you definitely won’t find back home is ladyboy cabaret such as at the Blue Angel. Check this out for 60 minutes of drama, beauty, elegance and glam, as well as a dazzling insight into Thailand’s famous third sex.

Billy's Bar & Restaurant

A popular haunt with Hua Hin’s British visitors and local community, expect to find some gregarious souls within the vicinity. It has everything you might have come to expect from a goodtime pub – darts, pool, live sports on extensively sized televisions and of course lashes of beer, both bottled and on draught. Many expats check out the latest Premiership and Scottish football here.

Hua Hin Night Market

Situated in the Hua Hin centre between the Petchkasem Road and the railway line, the market basically encompasses one street that comes to life from 18:30 onwards, when traders line the street with their stalls selling various apparel, crafts, art, CDs, DVDS and cheap, tasty food – generally what you might expect from a Thai market. A popular beer bar with waitresses dressed in risqué school uniforms and sports shown on the TV. Definitely one of the cooler places in Hua Hin. Retrophilia, as you might expect from the name, has more than a hint of an Indie vibe to it. Adorned with vinyl records, paper cut-outs and images of the likes of The Stones and Jimi Hendrix – the mood is suitably rock and roll. Expect a young and funky crowd and on Saturdays, a live band.

  • Opening Hours: 14:00-02:00
  • Address: Hua Hin Night Bazaar

The Romantic Bar

This joint pretty much does as it says on the label, dealing in the business of romance. Beautiful ladies wait tables and it’s all a far cry from the clip joints and ‘surprise bills’ one can be lumbered with in many bar girl venues.

  • Opening Hours: 11:00-02:00
  • Address: Poolsuk Road

The Satchmo Club

Aside from the live Filipino band playing here every night, Satchmo's is also a great excuse for visiting this classic reputed to have been Hua Hin’s first. The Satchmo Club is as high-end as it gets in Hua Hin. Located underground below the main lobby, Satchmo Club is a relaxing alternative to the brash venues that dominate the area, reminiscent of a bygone era colonial bar; you could almost imagine Humphrey Bogart at home here.
