Coming Soon: Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa
The biggest buzz on the hotel scene in Bangkok this month is the 600 million baht (about 16 million USD) Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa investment of the Siam Motors Group that is nearing completion. The hotel, due for a 'soft opening' on December 1 this year, is the company's first hospitality venture, and promises an unrivalled experience to guests. Located near the heart of Siam Square, just a stone's throw away from the National Stadium Skytrain station, it is dubbed as "a new Hip Plus concept with artistic designs to meet the demands of discerning young travellers who look for first-rate pleasures in life". The 25-storey building will feature 203 luxury suites, exquisitely designed and decorated by Thailand's most up-and-coming designers. In fact, we were told that it is a 'Proud-to-be-almost-entirely-Thai' project, except for the expertise of one foreign contractor that had to be called on.
The striking and dramatic interior design features reflect the most sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle trends, and each suite is (apparently) going to be "an individual film-set; an artistic exhibit within this extraordinary gallery of a hotel, stimulating the senses and imagination, and freeing the spirit of conventional constraints..." Since 21st Century living wouldn't be complete without integrated hi-tech solutions, fine dining, indulging spa treatments and chic entertainment, you can expect to find it all here under one roof - a place where art, elegance and modern conveniences will seamlessly converge... Wow, we can hardly wait. Watch this space.
Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa celebrates 14 years
When the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa opened in 1992 it was hailed as the city's only proper resort hotel, a claim-to-fame that still holds true. The 413-room hotel, nestled on the banks of the Chao Praya River and spread over 11 acres of lush and tropical landscaped gardens, boasts outstanding facilities like a newly-renovated Club Lounge, lobbies and meeting rooms. Dining options and other facilities include five (fabulous) restaurants, five lounges, a Kid's Club and the famous Mandara Spa. The resort has received many awards and accolades over the years, such as the coveted 'TUI Holly Award' from TUI Germany and, more recently, 'The Best Hotel Chain' from Fox Vakanties, a prominent Dutch tour operator (also read our review, further testament to the praise that is due here). The management team recently organised a blessing ceremony to celebrate its anniversary, which coincided with Long Service Awards presented to loyal staff members. Happy birthday, Marriott Resort & Spa!
Who's New at Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa
More news from the Marriott Resort & Spa... If you're planning an event in Bangkok, Khun Bubhawadee Tanchainam, newly appointed Director of Event Management, is just the person to speak to. Believing that exceeding expectations is the key to a successful event, Khun Budhawadee says this means gathering every bit of information, planning ahead and to ensure that attention is given to the smallest detail. She added that ultimately it comes down to team experience, with every member putting forward ideas after the initial discussion with the customer. With such an idyllic and inspiring location, it can't be too tough coming up with creative ideas... Welcome, Khun Budhawadee!

Meanwhile, at the JW Marriott in Sukhumvit Road - following the launch of its fabulously revamped and hi-tech 'Rooms of the Future' and IT Concierge service a few months ago - incredibly good value-for-money meeting packages have been launched. With its renowned service and outstanding business facilities, the hotel is already a firm favourite with regular business travellers to the Thai capital, a status which is set to be further enhanced by these innovative new half-day and full-day packages, ranging from 1,200 to 1,400 baht per delegate, respectively (minimum ten persons). Ultimate Rush at The Conrad Bangkok
The award-winning advertising campaign of the Conrad Hotels brand, 'The Luxury of Being Yourself', is all about enabling guests to experience the greatest luxuries in life. The Conrad Bangkok is setting the pace, literally, with a whole new experience for its executive guests, aptly called 'The Ultimate Rush'. Get ready for your airport pick-up in the stunning Mercedes SLK200 Roadster, the latest addition to the hotel's limousine fleet, and the first hotel in Southeast Asia to offer this service. The two different 'Ultimate Rush' packages are targeted at the single executive traveller, and come complete with priority immigration clearance, the roof-up-or-down-sir airport transfers, Executive Floor benefits and late check out until 22:00. When the first guest making use of this service was asked about the experience, he replied: "Life is short. Might as well travel first-class." |
