With today's fast-paced life, a diet of convenience foods, TV and the Internet, it's perhaps more necessary than ever before to make sure kids get their dose of fresh air, give their heart rates a healthy boost, develop good posture and generally stay on the nimble side of things. All the better if the opportunity is presented in a fun, non-threatening atmosphere where they can nurture their interests.
Kids' Yoga
By enrolling your kid in a yoga course at an early age, you're giving them a certain edge over the rest of the flock. Not only will they ooze serenity and poise, but perhaps they will have a resilience to all sorts of worldly temptations and help make the world a better place. Plus, it's fun. Yoga Elements Studio holds weekly kids classes on Saturdays and Sundays.
Classes: 10:00 - 11:00 Saturdays (kids 3 to 7), Sundays (kids 8 - 13) Location: Vanissa Building, Soi Chidlom Contact: +66 (0)2 665 5671
Gymnastics For Kids
Here is what every kid dreams of - gymnastics without having to be shipped off to Russia, starved and beaten blue. The Little Gym fosters the development of motor skills in an essentially non-competitive environment from a very early age. The programme starts with fantasy exploration and play, working on improving balance, rhythm and flexibility in kids from four months, slowly becoming more focussed and evolves into a full-blown gymnastics class by grade school.
Parent/Child Classes incorporate infants to kids of three years of age: Bugs (age 4 - 10 months), Birds (10 - 19 months), Beasts (19 months - 2.5 years) and Super Beasts (2.5 - 3 years).
Pre-School Kindergarten Gymnastics is for little people from three to seven years old and includes Funny Bugs (3 - 4 years), Giggle Worms (4 - 5 years) and Good Friends (5 - 7 years).
Grade School Gymnastics aka Flip/Hotshots is for the 'masters' (7 - 12 years). It teaches beginner, intermediate and advanced tumbling and apparatus skills. And self-confidence is a natural by-product of being the best you can be!

Dance and Performing Arts For Kids
Approved and licensed by the Royal Thai Government Ministry of Education, Bangkok's Dance Centre School of Performing Arts offers inspiring programmes for kids, teens and adults. In the Kids Faculty of Dance & Movement, there is Ballet for Children, which focuses on attuning the young one's body to the creative presence, and is based on the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance in London. The course sets out to cultivate discipline, concentration and heightened mind/body synchronisation.
Jazz for Children combines jazz and hip-hop techniques and emphasises bodyline and flexible torso. Courses encourage commitment to a dance career, but they're also good for those wanting to have fun and keep fit. Creative Dance for Children explores creative presence and the acquisition of discipline through creative means. While also preparing children for more formal levels of instruction, the emphasis is on enjoyment.
Rhythmic Gymnastics is dynamic and focuses on timing, rhythm and agile moves to up-tempo music. Benefits include improved coordination. In Mind & Body there is Aikido For Kids and Chinese Martial Arts For Kids (Gongfu and Northern Shaolin Longfist). All courses are directed by committed martial art teachers.
