Recommended Golf Courses in Bangkok

Now that you have all the right equipment, it's time to take it to the green! Bangkok boats quite a few world-class golf courses and they're no doubt ones of the best in this region. Some venues played host to numerous international tournaments. Most of these courses are located in the outskirts of Bangkok but they're never too far to get to.

If you have played all of Bangkok's famous courses, Green Valley will be a good alternative choice and most likely won't disappoint. The course is set in the beautiful countryside surrounded by hundreds of trees, shrubs and lakes. However, the beauty of this course goes beyond the scenic surroundings. Fairways, greens and holes are cleverly placed, with many of the fairways giving sloping shots and some of the greens situated behind mounds. Although challenging and difficult, you'll find this course enjoyable.

The four par-fives are all tough holes; the 11th and 18th particularly so, as water hazards line both sides of the fairway. Clever placement of bunkers and undulating greens add to the challenge of this very exciting course.

The course is about 45-minute drive from the city, 75 minutes from the airport.

The Krungthep Kreetha Golf Course is said to be one of the best courses for visitors to play thanks to its convenient location; it's only approximately 30 minutes north east of the city centre. Moreover, the playing fee is relatively reasonable. Though the course is one of the older ones around Bangkok - it was developed 29 years ago -, Krungthep Kreetha remains attractive and saw a recent face-lift in 1996.

Its layout and design provide fabulous views with plenty of water hazards: trees alongside nearly every fairway demand for accurate tee shots. The place is also one of the best known courses in Bangkok. Golfers can enjoy a pleasant new clubhouse with excellent food and service.

Considered the 'finest 27-hole international golf course', this course comprises of a vast green space and a luxurious housing estate. What makes it even more extravagant is the landscape's scenic design featuring more than 45 beautiful species of plants and more than 2,000 trees, and its fairways and greens are covered with Tifdwarf Bermuda grass. More than 3,800 water sprinklers work systematically to ensure a golf course that is fresh and in perfect condition all year round. Even though the course appears opulent with exceptional facilities, you'll find yourself in an upcountry atmosphere here at Lakewood.

In 1975, the World Cup Tournament was held at Navantanee Golf Club, which was also without doubt one of the biggest events in Thailand's golf history; since then, the course has become one of the most famous golf courses in the country. After renovating the course's look and improving its water drainage system in 1997, the course was reopened with an enhanced layout and look. Mature trees and healthy greenery reflect the dignity and history of the course as well as provide a tranquil retreat. 

Improving and maturing with time, Navatanee has become one of Bangkok's most beautiful courses. The clubhouse also has an excellent outdoor restaurant. The course is located about 45 minutes from the city and 50 minutes from the airport.
