An half-day tour begins at James H.W. Thompson's house, the American ex-military officer who revived the craft of Thai silk-weaving. His classic teak houses contain rare Asian art and antiques, and appear how he left them before disappearing in 1967.
Next up is Suan Pakkad Palace, a complex of five teak houses once belonging to Princess Chumbot and her husband. Now a museum, highlights include Thai musical instruments, furniture, pottery, Buddha images and a Khon (Thai masked dance) museum.
