  • Step back in time and enjoy a tour of the historical city of Ayutthaya visiting temples, ancient ruins, Buddha images, and the historical park that surrounds it. You will get plenty of time to explore this fascinating city that was once the capital of Siam, including the famous Buddha head nestled in tree roots and the large reclining Buddha that lies in an open meadow. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, continue visiting stunning historical sites and temples. On your way back to Bangkok visit Bang Pa-In, a beautifully maintained palace that was the summer residence of King Rama IV, with some unusual European style buildings inspired by his travels and a picturesque Thai pavilion in the middle of the lake.

    Pick up tour participants at different hotels in Bangkok city centre.

    When the group is ready, we head north to Ayutthaya, the second capital of Siam, renowned for its relics and ancient temple ruins.

  • 08:30

    Arrive in Ayutthaya and visit Wat Phu Khao Thong, a huge white-grey landmark with an amazing Mon-style chedi on top of the monument. You can see panoramic views of surrounding rice fields from the top.

  • 09:30

    Continue to Ayutthaya Historical Park and visit the famous Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, one of the most important historical sites of the Ayuthaya Period. It was a former royal temple, lying inside the Grand Palace compound. Walk to the nearby Viharn Phra Mongkolbopit, a beautifully decorated sanctuary that houses a large cast bronze Buddha image originally enshrined in the open area outside the Grand Palace and later built around in the reign of King Songtham.

    Enjoy a Thai lunch at a local restaurant
  • 13:00

    After lunch, onward to Wat Lokaya Sutha, once a massive temple complex. Here, see the largest reclining Buddha in Ayutthaya at eight metres high and 42 metres long, lying in an open field.

  • 14:30

    Visit the famous Summer Palace of Bang Pa-In. The palace was originally used by the royal family as a summer retreat during Ayutthaya Period. It was destroyed during the downfall of Ayutthaya and was restored by the fourth king of the Rattanakosin Kingdom. Inside the palace there are many impressive buildings and gardens.
