21. Fried Chicken
This is the who's-who of fried chicken. Best eaten by hand and with sticky rice, it is served cut up in pieces and covered with deep-fried, crispy garlic. Famous too for a great selection of other Northeastern (Isaan) delights like spicy papaya salad, spicy beed salad, fishcakes with chilli dip, sour soup, spicy minced pork and a whole lot of other things to wake up your taste buds.
How to find it: Ask the taxi to take you to Jackie in Soi Polo (it's famous with locals and very close to Lumpini Police Station in Wireless Road).

22. 10-Baht Rice Soup
A popular eating place among Thammasat and Silpakorn university students, '10-baht Rice Soup' is located near Wat Mahathat Yuwarajarangsarit Rajaworamahavihara (Wat Mahathat ), Phra Nakhon. There are over 50 kinds of side dishes to choose from (each costs only 10 baht!), and the menu rotates everyday. Rice soup comes in two different kinds; jasmine and brown (two bowls for 5 baht). Cheap, tasty, and great value for money - what more could you ask for?
How to find it: Close to Wat Mahathat (Open from 17:00 to 22:00, closed on Mondays)

23. Amaltery Adult Ice-Cream
Tired of the same old vanilla and chocolate ice-cream? Take a trip to Amaltery, Bangkok's one and only ice-cream parlour where frozen cocktails and alcohol-flavoured ice-cream such as 'Bitchin Margarita' and 'Midnight Mojito' are served. Only three scoops are allowed per person (you don't want to get too drunk on ice-cream anyway). Amaltery is a great place to relax after dinner or kick-start your night out.
How to find it: 88/6 Camp Davis, Sukhumvit 24 (Open 12:00 to 23:00 every day except Sunday and all major holidays).

24. Kwang Sawasdii
Fancy some deer meat, dear? Head to Kwang Sawasdii ('hello deer' in English) for interesting dishes like venison egg noodles in Chinese herb stew, stir-fry venison in black pepper, wine-marinated venison steak and grilled venison sausage.
How to find it: 336/35 Rama IV Road (near Bangkok Center hotel), 50 metres from Hua Lamphong MRT ( Exit 4).

25. Suan Pak Nam
Ideal for detox devotees, Suan Pak Nam is literally what the name suggests; a hydroponics garden. Surrounded by a lush vegetable garden, Suan Pak Nam serves 100% toxin-free dishes using ingredients from its very own backyard. Hydroponics Ceasar salad and home-made fettucini with a spicy red sauce are highly recommended. Fresh vegetables are also on sale.
How to find it: 17/136 Sukonthasawat Road, Lad Yao, Chatuchak (Open from 08:00 to 16:00).

26. Kai Jiao Story
Who says kai jiao (Thai omelet) is boring? Certainly not at Kai Jiao Story, where over ten varieties of omelets are available. Some of the most interesting include dried fish omelet, 'grand mother' omelet and holy basil and red shallot omelet. They also serve other popular Thai dishes.
How to find it: Ground Floor, Sukon Court (near Tisco Building), North Sathorn Road. Open daily from 11:00 to 22:00.

27. Somboon Po Cha Na
Famous for its stir-fried crab with curry powder. So famous, in fact, that many well-known people like the sister of H.M. The King and the Japanese Prime Minister have eaten there. There are four branches. Tel: +66 (0)2 234 4499
How to find it: Ban Tad Thong (Chula Soi 8)
 
28. Chutaros Noodles & Beef Balls
This restaurant is a big favourite with locals for its very delicious noodles with beef balls. With so many office workers in the area and students from nearby Chulalongkorn University flocking there, it gets pretty busy.
How to find it: Siam Square Soi 1 (opposite MBK)

29. Roti Mataba
A little Muslim restaurant, serving a delicious roti with curry and mataba.
How to find it: Suan Santi Chai Prakarn or Pomm Pra Sumain (not too far from Khao San Road).

30. Greek Kekab (Olive Kebab & Café)
Delightful Greek kebab that will transport you to the land of ouzo and bouzoukis.
How to find it: There are two locations; on the 2nd floor of All Seasons Place in Witthayu Road, and the other at The Emporium Food Hall.

31. Royal Dragon
The world famous Royal Dragon restaurant has the most bizarre service style you'll ever see. Waiters and waitresses clad in traditional Chinese costumes walk on water, fly through the sky and skate across floors to deliver food in double quick time. It's also officially the world's biggest restaurant, with over 16,000 square metres of space, 1,000 staff, 5,000 seats and 25,000 plates. Oh, and the seafoods not bad either! Theres a huge set menu or you can order food by weight and have it cooked up Thai, Japanese, Korean, or European style.
How to find it: 35/222 Bangna Trad Road, Bangna
 
32. Soft-Shell Crab (Jim Thompson Café)
The signature dish here, soft-shell crab in yellow curry, is the kind of food people dream about. There are many other show-stoppers too, mostly Thai-influenced, as well as wonderful cakes and desserts.
How to find it: Soi Saladaeng, off Silom Road
 
33. Stir-Fried Noodle with Chicken
Chonticha Restaurant is the place to go for stir-fried noodle with chicken (kuay tiew kua kai).
How to find it: Located next to Central Hospital.
 
34. Tick Restaurant
It might be a bit of a drive - 45 minutes from Bangkok - but Tick Restaurant is the most famous restaurant in Nakorn Patham, and definitely worth a visit for a truly authentic and local experience. Great food indeed!
How to find it: Nakorn Chaisri market
 
35. Flying Ice-Cream
This impressive trick of throwing ice cream into the air and then catching it is on our list only because it must be unique in the world. Unfortunately it's a two to three hour drive from Bangkok, but if you're heading in the direction of Nakorn Pathom, this is a not-to-be-missed.
How to find it: Night market of Pra Pathom Chedi Pagoda.
 

36. Mon Nom Sod
A whole new take on a slice of toast... This place has made a name for itself with an alternative dessert of toasted bread with all kinds of decadent (and very sweet) toppings like custard, condensed milk, chocolate spread and peanut butter. They serve great coffee and tea too (hot or cold) and many different flavoured milk. 
How to find it: Opposite the office of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council
 
37. Chan Suay 
This small restaurant is renowned for delicious and homemade Italian cuisine. Its name literally translates to 'beautiful plates'.
How to find it: in Sukhumvit 31 (in walking distance from Silom Village restaurant)
 
38. Shabu Shabu Hot Pot
A delicious DIY hot pot experience with a superb selection of meat and vegetables. Becoming increasingly popular, and makes for the perfect evening out with friends or family.
 
39. Delicatessen
Talk about real home-made food... This tiny, tiny restaurant is the real thing, serving wonderful Italian dishes cooked by the owner in her own kitchen. Famous for roasted rack of lamb.
How to find it: Sukhumvit 55
 
40. Agaligo - Bangkok's Secret Garden
A great English tradition which is also very popular in Bangkok is afternoon tea. This English-style secret garden is the perfect place to do that, and the selection of delectable things will take you straight to sweet heaven.
How to find it: Sukhumvit 51
